With the support of Olena Shtohryn, Managing Partner of Dictio law firm, and Andrzej Chelchowski, Principal of the Polish Office of Miller Canfield law firm, a joint meeting of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine with Polski Związek Pracodawców Budownictwa - PZPB was held on May 26, 2022.

"Poland is giving us the most support so far, because we are aware of how many refugees from Ukraine have moved to you and how comfortable they feel.Thank you very much for that! ” - CBU President Lev Partskhaladze started the meeting.

Ukraine has suffered greatly from Russian aggression. So far, many square meters of housing have been destroyed or partially damaged, many educational and medical facilities, roads and about 300 bridges have been destroyed. Lev Partskhaladze notes that till the end of the war the numbers will be growing. Now the National Council for the Recovery of Ukraine from the War has been established under the President of Ukraine and, in particular, the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine has become a part of it. Ukraine is interested in any kind of cooperation with European countries, because during the restoration there will be a lack of building materials, construction equipment, qualified experts, labor.

"Now the Government of Ukraine is actively working on improving the legal framework to make it easier for foreign companies to operate in the Ukrainian market and join the reconstruction of our state. Therefore, today we can promise legal support in all areas", said Olena Shtohryn.

In turn, Damian Kaźmierczak, chief economist of the PZPB added that the Polish side is also interested in cooperating with Ukraine and will do everything possible to build effective communication and implement an effective strategy in the postwar period.

PZPP is the most powerful construction organization in Poland, more than 70% of which are contractors, in addition, 12 of the 15 largest construction companies in the country are members of this organization. It should be noted that the composition also includes representatives of the legal and banking sectors.

"Ukraine's needs during the reconstruction will be huge, but the Polish side is interested in providing assistance," said Damian Kaźmierczak.

“At the level of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, an analysis of construction materials that are currently needed has been developed. There is a catastrophic lack of finishing materials, since a lot of them earlier were delivered from Belarus,” Lev Partskhaladze added.

In his opinion, at this stage it is necessary to identify the clear needs of Ukraine and the possibilities of Poland, after which the next steps could be discussed separately and a working group could be organized. In addition, it was proposed to develop a roadmap on both sides, which will help unite proposals, visions and plans for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
